The Fulbright Association 22nd annual conference, on the theme of "Opportunities for Leadership: Fulbright in the World," was held at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C. from October 7 through October 10, 1999.
As part of the conference program, the Association awarded the 1999 J. William Fulbright Prize for International Understanding to Mary Robinson, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights on Friday, October 8, in a ceremony at the U.S. Department of State.
