My heart and thoughts go out to all the victims, survivors and all
those who lost their loved ones in the Hurricane Katrina disaster.
May God bless all the victims and guide their loved ones left
behind. For the rescuers - you will always be remembered in a very
special way.
When I went for my
PhD studies at the University of Arizona in 2000 New Orleans was my
first port of call. I spent 3 weeks at Loyola University as part of
IIE preacademic orientation. I remember very well the beauty and
tranquility of the Big Easy -as we came to know New Orleans.
May God Bless you
all.

Dear Dr. Fenton-May,
In its recent meeting the executive board of the Spanish Fulbright
Association has asked me to express our sincere sympathy for the
victims of the terrible tragedy that has so harshly struck the gulf
region and all of America. All people of good will have have
been deeply saddened by so much
destruction and loss. And we who have lived among the American
people and gained so much from
our experiences there have been particularly touched.
We are confident
that on the difficult road ahead to reconstruction the American
people will again show the best of your society and that the
solidarity of the world community will comfort and help.
Kind regards

Katrina Response
Sept. 6, 2005 – On
behalf of the Korea Fulbright Alumni Association and the Korea
Fulbright Foundation, we would like to extend our deepest
consideration and condolences for those in New Orleans and
surrounding areas affected by the tragedies brought on by Hurricane
Katrina.
Dr. Sung Hak Kang,
President of the Korea Fulbright Alumni Association and Professor of
Political Science at Korea University, and Dr. Jung Hyun Roh,
Chairman of the Korea Fulbright Foundation, have both expressed
heartfelt sympathy for those people affected by the hurricane.
Having studied in the United States, taken part in local
communities, and benefited from the many opportunities afforded to
them by their American colleagues, the Korean Alumni Association and
Fulbright Foundation members are committed to providing assistance
to hurricane affected areas.
As a mere small
token of our concern, the Korean Fulbright Alumni Association and
the Korea Fulbright Foundation plan to make a significant
contribution to relief and reconstruction efforts. The Alumni
Association has pledged US $10,000, and the Directors of the Korea
Fulbright Foundation have called a meeting to discuss their
contribution level.
We hope that, in
the aftermath, peace and stability are restored as soon as possible,
and we pray that all those affected know that our minds are with
them.

To: Dr. R Fenton-May, President, Fulbright Association
Dear Dr. Fenton-May,
On behalf of the German Fulbright Alumni Association, please accept
our
condolences on the destruction and loss of life due to Hurricane
Katrina. Here in Germany we are watching the developments closely,
and
are taken aback at the sheer magnitude of the storm and the havoc it
has
left behind. Many of our members have spent time in the Gulf Region,
in
New Orleans in particular, and are particularly shocked by what has
happened.
Please extend our wishes to your members that they, their families
and
loved ones are safe and well.
Kind regards
Joseph Kristensen
