Bruce was one of the first Fulbrighters to Greece, along with Edmund Keeley and Lee Meyer, in 1948. Subsequently, Bruce became director of the American Farm School, where he served for more than 35 years. Bruce and his wife Tad (Elizabeth) are Greek and American citizens and live in Metamorphosis.
