The San Diego Chapter, which held its inaugural meeting on May 23, 2004, includes a growing membership of approximately 120 area professionals from education, business, and government. The chapter supports the larger goals of the National Fulbright Association and on a local level attempts to
• foster international awareness and understanding through its events and programs
• enrich the experience of visiting Fulbright scholars, teachers, and students
• promote interaction among Fulbright alumni, visiting Fulbrighters, and the general public
• advocate increased support for Fulbright exchanges
• enhance intercultural communication and understanding

The Fulbright Association is tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and chapters are tax exempt under a group tax exemption ruling. The Association is incorporated under the laws of the District of Columbia. Chapters apply for and receive charters, approve Bylaws, and enter into Affiliation Agreements to maintain their affiliation with the national organization and to receive services and benefits from the national office.
We know that as a volunteer it can be difficult to navigate the paperwork required to maintain your chapter’s affiliation with the Fulbright Association. Please find below all of the necessary forms to be completed at various points through the year.
