Approximately 550 Fulbright Program activists succeeded in persuading 32 Senators to sign-on to a bipartisan letter to Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Daniel Inouye (D-HI) and Ranking Member Thad Cochran (R-MS). The letter from John F. Kerry (D-MA), Richard G. Lugar (R-IN), Richard J. Durbin (D-IL), Christopher S. Bond (R-MO), and Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) urged the Appropriations Committee chairman and ranking member to fund fully the President’s $58.8 billion International Affairs Budget request, which was at risk of losing $4 billion in the Senate Budget Committee Resolution. The Fulbright Association is working with other international affairs organizations to oppose the passage of the Senate Budget Resolution with. the $4 billion cut to the International Affairs Budget
