What’s Happening at Fulbright

Fulbright means different things to each of us. For me, it calls up memories of my late husband, Senator J. William Fulbright. To a student at the airport about to leave on their scholarship, Fulbright may connote excitement, adventure or even fear. To an academic who went on their Fulbright 30 years ago, it may bring up feelings of accomplishment and prestige. I’m sure Fulbright means something special to you.

The directors who set up the 21st Century Fund saw the need to build for the future and the vital role that the Fulbright Association plays in ensuring US government support for the Fulbright Program and chapter enrichment activities continuing to connect alums and visiting Fulbrighters. It is critical to diplomacy and ensuring mutual understanding among the next generation of global leaders. Your support is as important as ever.

—R. Fenton-May, 21st Century Fund Champion, Donor & Lifetime Member

You know the difference the Fulbright experience makes in people’s lives around the globe and the importance of safeguarding the Fulbright Program. Today, the need for cultural understanding is vast. And the Fulbright voice is vitally important during these uncertain times of global conflict and shrinking budgets for cultural exchanges.

The Fulbright Association is committed to advocating for the program in Washington, DC and around the world as a visible, vocal champion for its importance and impact. We keep alumni connected in ways that matter and through programs that showcase the power of Fulbright. Our work is made possible through generous contributions from Fulbrighters and friends.

In 2014, donations increased by 250% with Fulbrighters supporting the Association at all levels, including gifts of $250, $500, $1,000 and even $36,000! Charitable support from Fulbrighters help us advance our advocacy efforts, expand our mission-oriented Alumni Service Corps and offer scholarships and new programs that connect alumni in meaningful ways. Your support matters!

Our Association is growing in size and influence. Our collective voice is more powerful and vocal at a vital time for the Program. I am writing today to encourage you to give generously. With your charitable support, we can do even more to celebrate the power of Fulbright and ensure the future of the program. Thank you for helping advance the Fulbright legacy!
