What’s Happening at Fulbright
An Open Letter to Our Alumni and Supporters
The Fulbright Association, with its thousands of individual, organizational and institutional members, enhances the Fulbright experience by promoting opportunities for lifelong learning, collaborative networking and service at home and abroad. It is through you, our alumni, that we secure the future of our program and carry out the transformational impact of our work.
I’d like to introduce myself, Jennifer Gennaro Oxley, as I’ve recently assumed the role of Interim Executive Director of the Fulbright Association. I’m honored to take on this role during this time of transition. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many of you at the recent Annual Fulbright Conference and I look forward to meeting many more of you in the coming months. I’d like to assure you – our devoted members, volunteers and supporters – that the organization’s vision, strategy and plan for 2015 will continue our momentum and grow our membership and influence.
I joined the Fulbright Association staff as Director of Outreach and Development to apply my passion for global immersive experiences to the Fulbright mission of supporting international educational and cultural exchange. In short, I will continue to bring my depth of experience in the non-profit, alumni, membership and corporate leadership roles to you and the Fulbright Association.
During my time in this community, I have been inspired countless times by the sheer will, dedication and generosity of our community. My philosophy can be reflected in a quote from Michael Korda, Editor-in-Chief, Simon & Schuster (New York publisher): “One way to keep momentum going is to have constantly greater goals.”
Together, we’ve outlined these overall goals for 2015:
- Better connect our community and highlight your impact stories through improved technology and communications
- Expand our support of our vital chapter network and volunteers
- Build momentum and visibility for innovative events and programs, such as TEDxFulbright
- Elevate our advocacy work and visibility with local, national and international influencers
- Foster more meaningful relationships and improve engagement with our international partners
Every alumnus/alumna, chapter leader, and international partner has a vital role to play in the future of the Fulbright Exchange program and the success our global community. We’ll make every effort to connect, engage and support you for an environment where you can achieve your aspirations.
Our program and the Fulbright Association have a great future with your continued guidance, volunteerism and support. Feel free to reach out to me, our committed board leadership or any member of our talented staff at any time. We are here for you!

A Quote From Senator Fulbright
The Fulbright Program aims to bring a little more knowledge, a little more reason, and a little more compassion into world affairs and thereby to increase the chance that nations will learn at last to live in peace and friendship. - J. William Fulbright
