International Organizing Committee for Fulbright International,
Interdisciplinary Conference in 2008

The U.S. Fulbright Association has been asked to disseminate a call for
volunteers to work on organizing a global Fulbright alumni conference in 2008.
The meeting would further the tradition begun in Athens by the Hellenic
Association of Fulbright Scholars of holding an international, interdisciplinary
conference in the year and, if possible, the country that hosts the summer
Olympics
If you are interested in helping to organize an international Fulbright alumni conference in 2008, please complete the Statement of Interest. Statements must be submitted by December 31, 2004. Volunteers should meet the following criteria:
1) You must be an active member of the Fulbright alumni association in your country, if one exists, and know and support its goals and priorities. If there is no alumni association in your country, you must actively support Fulbright exchanges in other ways.;
2) You must have a network of contacts and relationships that will enable you to raise funds for co-sponsorships for the conference program and events and for a fund to support the travel and participation of young alumni and alumni from regions where funding is not available;
3) You must be able to pay the costs you incur in working on the organization of the conference, which might include travel, per diem, telephone, materials, etc. (The committee will not have funding to reimburse volunteers.)
Members of the 2004 International Organizing Committee who attended the conference in Athens, Greece, will review the statements of interest submitted by alumni volunteers and select seven to nine people to help organize the 2008 meeting.
